About Sharon Schaaf

Sharon Schaaf is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner at Mountain Desert Health. Dr. Schaaf works with local patients in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to develop personalized care plans that suit their health needs and improve their well-being. Dr. Schaaf earned her bachelor’s of science in nursing from the University of Wyoming, master’s of science in nursing from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and her post-master’s certificates in adult-gerontology acute care from The University of New Mexico and cardiovascular nursing from Loyola University. She then completed her doctorate in nursing practice at Texas Woman’s University. After graduation, she decided to pursue a doctorate in philosophy. She has practiced as a cardiovascular nurse practitioner in both inpatient and outpatient settings since 2002. Her areas of specialty include acute care, cardiology, nursing education, and gerontology. In addition, she worked as a clinical educator and associate professor at The University of New Mexico, teaching courses like adult-gerontology acute care and chronic illness management, advanced diagnostics and therapeutic skills, advanced health assessments, and disease prevention.
